About the Role

Merck is seeking motivated and dynamic professionals for the position of Customer Team Representative (CTR) in the US Pharma division. This field-based sales role is designed for candidates passionate about building customer relationships and driving impact in healthcare delivery.

The CTR will serve as the primary point of contact for healthcare providers within a defined territory, ensuring seamless collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, quality directors, and integrated healthcare systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a territory-level business plan aligned with Merck’s policies and ethical standards.
  • Engage healthcare providers in balanced, evidence-based product discussions.
  • Maintain product knowledge certification across the assigned portfolio.
  • Provide actionable insights on customer needs, market dynamics, and quality goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Account Executives and Integrated Delivery Systems leaders.
  • Monitor territory performance against objectives using company-provided tools.
  • Travel within the territory (occasional overnight travel may be required).

Qualifications

Education
  • BA/BS degree with at least 3 years of sales experience OR
  • High school diploma with 6+ years of relevant work experience (sales, marketing, military, healthcare/scientific fields such as pharma, biotech, or medical devices).
Required Skills
  • Proven excellence in prior educational or professional roles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in pharma/biotech/medical device sales or account management.
  • Ability to present technical concepts clearly.
  • Analytical skills for assessing metrics and objectives.
